How to apply for a UK visa 

Where can I get information?

The UK Border Agency and the British High Commission Guyana work in partnership with a commercial organisation, WorldBridge.  

You can find out whether you need a visa and how to apply through WorldBridge's website.  WorldBridge also provides information through an e-mail and telephone enquiry service, the number is 4420 809 95465 and costs US$12. All the information provided is supplied and approved by the UK Border Agency.

Please note that the British High Commission is unable to provide visa information to personal callers. Please contact WorldBridge as described above.

Do I have to pay?

There is a charge for using the phone service, but information from the website and by email is free of charge.

Where can I get advice?

WorldBridge and its staff cannot give you advice on how to complete your application, or what type of visa you should apply for.  If you need help with your application or advice about the UK's immigration rules and requirements, you should seek advice from a qualified immigration adviser. In the UK these are immigration advisers regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner  or legally qualified professionals regulated by designated professional bodies.  Their websites are:

How do I submit my application?

Persons applying through the British High Commission in Georgetown, Guyana must do so online. The technology guides you through the visa application process step by step. The online application facility allows you to apply using a secure internet connection. The correct visa application form will be generated depending on the choices you make when you start your application. Remember that you need to make an appointment online. The online process will guide you through this. At your designated appointment time, you will come to the visa section with the required documents. At the same time your fingerprints will be taken. Your documents will be sent to the British Consulate General in New York for processing. Visa applications are not processed in Georgetown. The British High Commission in Georgetown will contact you when your passport is ready for collection usually within 15-20 working days. 

Who decides whether I will get a visa?

UK Border Agency staff will process and decide your visa application. WorldBridge and its staff play no part in the outcome of your visa application. They cannot influence it in any way.  If any member of staff employed by WorldBridge say they can influence your application, you should tell the British High Commission immediately.
